Supplemental Registered Options Trader
The Exchange is pleased to announce that SEC approval was received to authorize a new class of registered options trader called a Supplemental Registered Options Trader ("SROT"). The Exchange will approve six (6) firms based upon specific criteria in the rule filing to act as SROT's with each accepting an allocation of 300-400 options to be quoted remotely from outside the exchange. Each SROT will provide continuous two-sided markets in at least 60% of the series in their assigned option classes and will be expected to promote the Exchange as an order routing destination both within and outside their organization. In order to trade these allocated products the program requires that for every 30 products quoted, the SROT will be required to purchase or lease one membership seat. The complete approved SR Amex 2005 075 rule filing can be found at: http://www.sec.gov/rules/sro/amex/2006/34-53635.pdf.
Remote Registered Options Trader
Remote Registered Options Traders (RROT's) are a new category of Registered Options Traders (ROT's). An RROT is a ROT which would be a member or member organization designated by the Exchange which would be awarded remote quoting rights to enter bid and offers electronically from locations other than the trading crowd where the applicable options class is traded on the Exchange's physical trading floor. Specialists are awarded remote quoting rights based on Exchange floor volume executed and their market share performance in the options they specialize in. ROT's are awarded remote quoting rights based on Exchange floor volume executed. A complete description of the RROT program can be found within the SR Amex 2005-100 rule filing. For questions on the RROT program contact Mike Babel at 212-306-1882 or Bill Ryan at 212-306-1892.
Associate Member
The Amex also offers an Associate Membership, which entitles the holder to electronically access the trading floor. A $15,000 annual electronic access fee is assessed for this type of remote membership.
