Claire McGrath is Senior Vice President and General Counsel at the American Stock Exchange and is responsible for directing all legal services for the Exchange. These activities include the Exchange's liaison with the Securities and Exchange Commission and other government agencies, interpretation of regulatory policies, contract preparation and administration; and litigation and administrative matters.
Ms. McGrath joined the Amex in 1987 as staff attorney in the Options Division, and has served in increasingly responsible legal roles. From 1993 to 2001, she was Vice President and Derivatives Legal Counsel, where she played an instrumental role in the growth and success of the Exchange's options and ETF business lines. From June 2001 through July 2005, Ms. McGrath served as Deputy General Counsel.
Ms. McGrath holds a bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School. She is a member of the Bar of the State of New York.
