AMERICAN STOCK EXCHANGE REPORTS A DECREASE IN SHORT INTEREST

New York, October 4, 2007 — The American Stock Exchange® (Amex®) member and non-member organizations today reported short interest of 1,004,412,083 shares as of the September 28, 2007 settlement date, a decrease of 26,217,224 from the 1,030,629,307 (adjusted) shares reported on September 14, 2007. The September figure represents trades through September 25, 2007.

In the year ago period, short interest totaled 964,873,409 (adjusted).

The September short interest position reflects short interest reported by all broker-dealers (not only Amex member firms) in Amex-listed stocks. A short position of 5,000 or more shares existed in 824 issues. Some short position was shown in 1,300 issues.

The attached short interest report was compiled by the Amex on the basis of information obtained from its member and non-member organizations covering all securities dealt in on the Exchange on both round and odd-lots.
