BlackRock California Municipal Income Trust II is a non-diversified, closed-end management investment company whose investment objective is to provide current income exempt from regular Federal income tax and California income tax. The trust intends to invest primarily in municipal bonds that pay interest that is exempt from regular Federal income tax and California income tax. Furthermore, the trust intends to invest in municipal bonds that, in the opinion of the trust's investment advisor and sub-advisor, are underrated or undervalued. Under normal market conditions, the trust expects to be fully invested in these tax-exempt municipal bonds. The trust will invest at least 80% of its managed assets (as defined) in municipal bonds that at the time of investment are investment grade quality. Investment grade quality bonds are bonds rated within the four highest grades (Baa or BBB or better by Moody's Investor Service, Inc., Standard & Poor's Ratings Group or Fitch IBCA, Inc.) or bonds that are unrated but judged to be of comparable quality by the trust's investment advisor or sub-advisor. The trust may invest up to 20% of its managed assets in municipal bonds that at the time of investment are rated Ba/BB or B by Moody's, S&P or Fitch or bonds that are unrated but judged to be of comparable quality by the trust's investment advisor or sub-advisor. The trust intends to invest primarily in long-term bonds. The trust intends to qualify as a regulated investment company under the Internal Revenue Code. |
