Eaton Vance Insured Municipal Bond Fund is a closed-end, non-diversified management investment company. Its investment objective is to provide current income exempt from federal income tax, including alternative minimum tax. The fund seeks to achieve its investment objective by investing primarily in high grade municipal obligations that are insured as to the timely payment of principal and interest and are not subject to alternative minimum tax. During normal market conditions, at least 80% of the fund's net assets will be invested in debt obligations issued by or on behalf of states, territories and possessions of the U.S., and the District of Columbia and their political subdivisions, agencies or instrumentalities, the interest on which is exempt from federal income tax, including alternative minimum tax, and that are insured as to principal and interest payments. At least 80% of the fund's net assets will normally be invested in municipal obligations rated in the highest category at the time of investment. Up to 20% of the fund's net assets may be invested in obligations rated below Aaa or AAA (but not lower than BBB or Baa) and comparable unrated obligations and/or municipal obligations that are uninsured. Accordingly, the fund does not intend to invest any of its assets in obligations rated below investment grade or in comparable unrated obligations. Under normal market conditions, the fund expects to be fully invested (at least 95% of its net assets) in accordance with its investment objective. The fund intends to comply with the provisions of the Internal Revenue Code applicable to regulated investment companies. |
