Eaton Vance New York Municipal Income Trust is a closed-end, non-diversified management investment company whose investment objective is to provide current income exempt from regular federal income tax and New York State and New York City personal income taxes. The trust intends to achieve its objective by investing primarily in investment-grade New York municipal securities. The trust may also invest a portion of its assets in higher yielding municipal securities of lesser quality. The trust normally will invest 65% or more of its total assets in municipal obligations of issuers located in New York, and may invest 25% or more of its total assets in a U.S. territory or in the same economic sector, such as revenue obligations of health care facilities or hospitals, airport revenue obligations or industrial development bonds. This may make the trust more susceptible to adverse economic, political or regulatory occurrences affecting New York, a particular territory or economic sector. |
