Genesis Energy, L.P. together with its subsidiaries operates in the midstream segment of the oil and gas industry in the Gulf Coast area of the United States. The company operates through four divisions: Pipeline Transportation, Refinery Services, Industrial Gases, and Supply and Logistics. The Pipeline Transportation division transports crude oil, carbon dioxide (CO2), and natural gas through the ownership and operation of pipelines. As of December 31, 2008, it operated 235-mile Mississippi System that provides shippers of crude oil in Mississippi an indirect access to refineries, pipelines, storage, terminaling, and other crude oil infrastructures in the Midwest; 100-mile Jay System, which delivers crude oil to a terminal near Mobile, Alabama; and 90-mile Texas System that transports crude oil from West Columbia to Webster, Webster to Texas City, and Webster to Houston. The Refinery Services division provides services to eight refining operations in Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas, which process high sulfur natural gas streams that are separated from hydrocarbon streams to remove the sulfur. The Supply and Logistics division provides terminaling, blending, storing, marketing, gathering, and transporting, and other supply and logistics services to third parties. The Industrial Gases division supplies CO2 to industrial customers; manufactures high-pressure steam and syngas; and processes raw CO2 for sale to other customers.
