Northern Orion Resources, Inc., through its subsidiaries, engages in the exploration and development of mineral property interests, primarily copper and gold in Argentina. It has a 12.5% interest in the Bajo de la Alumbrera copper-gold mine in the Catamarca Province, Argentina and a 100% interest in the Agua Rica copper-gold-molybdenum project in the Catamarca Province, Argentina. Northern Orion Resources also holds a 50% interest in the copper-gold Mantua Project in Cuba. The company was incorporated as Northern Orion Resources, Ltd. in April 1986 and changed its name to Northern Orion Explorations, Ltd. in October 1986. Further, the company changed its name to Northern Orion Resources, Inc. in 2003. Northern Orion Resources is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada.
