| NYSE Arca Airline Total Return Index |
| The NYSE Arca Airline Total Return Index ("MLXAL") is an adjusted total return equal-dollar weighted index of the most highly capitalized companies in the airline industry that serves as the underlying for the Merrill Lynch Strategic Return Notes Linked to the AMEX Airline Total Return Index Due April 1, 2010. The Index tracks the performance of the NYSE Arca Airline Index ("XAL") and the dividends paid, if any, on the stocks included in the NYSE Arca Airlines Index, less the annual Index Adjustment Factor of 1.5%. The Index was established with a benchmark value of 100.00 on March 29, 2005.
